October 17, 2013 -- Glens Falls High School juniors, Erin Burchfield (Alto 1) and Kerr Gooden (Soprano 1), have been selected for the prestigious 2013 All-State Mixed Chorus.
These students were chosen based on the outstanding grades they received on their solos at the New York State School Music Association solo festival last spring. Both singers earned a perfect 100 when they performed a level 6 (the most difficult) All-State vocal solo and a challenging vocal sight-reading example for a judge.
Erin and Kerr will be travelling to Rochester on December 5, along with other outstanding musicians from around the state. "Although they must arrive with the music thoroughly prepared, they will rehearse for 8 hours a day with guest conductor, Craig Arnold, who is director of choral activities at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa," says GFHS music teacher Pamela Granger. The All-State Mixed Chorus will present a concert at the beautiful Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music on Sunday, December 8.
"We are extremely proud to have these two talented young women represent the music program of Glens Falls High School at the state level," said Mrs. Granger.
