Jackson artwork on display at Stewart's Shop

October 18, 2013 -- The Stewart’s Shop on Ridge Street is a little more colorful this fall, thanks to artwork created by Glens Falls students.

Jackson Heights fourth-graders Tanner Sokol, Sophie Allison, Camden Barry, Jasmine Rowell, Alex Vanderpool, Olivia Moon, Brena Lewis, Sam Storc, Ava Kules, Avery Hill, and Orion Dennin stand with art teacher Debbie Sylvia and their original artwork. Their watercolor representations of “fall foliage” hang on the Stewart’s store wall by the ice cream counter.

In these pieces, students were practicing their techniques to show foreground, middle ground and background in drawing and painting. “Students created a forest demonstrating depth,” says art teacher Debbie Sylvia. “Trees show volume as watercolor wash was added to enhance shadow and light source.”

Additional students’ work will be featured in months to come.
