April 19, 2017 — In early April, GFHS senior Lucy Reid sang in the prestigious National Association for Music Education's All-Eastern Honors Choir in Atlantic City, NJ.
“Lucy is more than just ‘talented,’” says music teacher Abigail Sery. “She is a hard worker who always strives for excellence and brings enthusiasm into everything she does.”
The students chosen for this honor come from schools from Maryland up to Maine and also include American schools in parts of Western Europe.
“There were only about 40 students selected for Lucy's voice part across these participating states,” explains Ms. Sery. “And, she is one out of 11 students of her voice part selected from New York.”
The 2017 NAfME All-Eastern Honors Ensembles performed at the Adrian Phillips Ballroom in the Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The NAfME counts itself among the world’s largest arts education organizations, and works to orchestrate success for millions of students nationwide.
