Art Club

Meeting time and location: First Friday of every month, 3:15-3:30 p.m., HS Room 131 (Look for scheduled events and projects via Google Classroom under “ArtClub”)
Art Club is offered to all high school students that enjoy working in the arts. We meet the first Friday of each month to discuss your ideas for projects and schedule more time at your convenience. Many of our projects are for community service such as decorating Christmas trees for families in need, painting murals for area schools and businesses plus others.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Advisors: Mrs. Miller and Ms. Grieve
Meeting time and location: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 p.m., Big Cross
Bigs and Littles meet for one-to-one mentoring in the classroom, school library, school computer room, or school gym. Bigs and Littles meet once a week to read together, play sports or computer games, or simply talk about life and personal issues – just as friends do.
Drama Club
Advisor: Miss Sery
Meeting time and location: Fridays, 3:05-4 p.m. (September only) in HS Room 126 (Chorus room). Auditions for spring musical: Oct. 1-2
Drama Club alternates between performing a play and musical every year. Students audition for roles and rehearse after school or in the evening to eventually put on a performance.
Environmental Club
Advisor: Mr. Dempsey
Meeting time and location: Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m., HS Room 316
Environmental Club is open to anyone that shares an interest in learning about nature and being in the outdoors. During the year we conduct a variety of outdoor/nature oriented activities. The club also prepares for the Envirothon competition held each spring at the Warren County Fish Hatchery. The competition tests your knowledge of wildlife, aquatic biology, soils, and tree identification.
Freshmen Club
Advisors: Ms. Matino and Mrs. Benway
Meeting time and location: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 p.m., HS Room 205
Our club is open to all freshmen. Our main goal is to raise money for our class to defray the costs of Junior Prom and Senior Cruise. We hope to do this by fundraising and sponsoring the holiday dance. Our goal is to raise at least 800 dollars by June. All money stays with the class. Since freshmen enter the high school with zero money, it is important to fundraise. We also want to get involved with volunteering locally.
Friends of Rachel (F.O.R.)
Advisor: Mrs. Nolin
Meeting time and location: Fridays, 3-3:30 p.m., HS Library
We work together to make our school a nicer, more welcoming place. This year we are going to try different activities to promote kindness and continue mentoring middle school students.
Gay Straight Alliance (GSA)
Advisor: Ms. McLeod
Meeting time and location: Tuesdays, 3:30-4 p.m., HS Room 219B
The GSA is a youth support club, open to all students, which brings together youth in the community for the purpose of creating a safe place to discuss and learn about current gay and straight issues. Through peer support, leadership development, and training, the GF Chapter of the GSA supports young people in creating safe environments in schools, educating the school community and fighting discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools.
International Action Club
Advisor: Mrs. McKeighan
Meeting time and location: First and third Tuesdays, 8-8:20 a.m., HS Room 229
International Action club provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of countries and cultures around the world. We will be collaborating with the Glens Falls Rotary on several service projects.
Junior Class Club
Advisors: Mrs. Arney and Mrs. Field
Meeting time and location: Second and fourth Wednesdays, 3:10 p.m., HS Room 216
All juniors are welcome to join the Class meetings. Homecoming and Prom are the two big events for the year. Prom fundraising and planning consumes most of our time. In addition students are encouraged to plan community service and other events.
Key Club

Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. We work together to have fun while performing community service projects throughout the Glens Falls area.
Math Team

Mock Trial
Advisor: Mrs. Bates
Meeting time and location: Tuesdays, 5 p.m. (starting late November), HS Room 211
Students play the roles of attorneys and witnesses in a mock case created by the NYS Bar Association. We prepare the case with the help of a lawyer, practice, and compete against other schools in Warren Count. Our competitions are held in Feb. and March at the Warren County Courthouse and the regional winner goes on to States in April.
Newspaper Club
Advisor: Mrs. Bates
Meeting time and location: Tuesdays, 7:45 a.m., HS Room 211
The newspaper is published monthly with articles about school, regional, and national topics. It includes controversial issues, sports, clubs, politics, humor, creative writing, advice, and anything else that might be of interest to students at GFHS. Anyone who would like to write an article for the newspaper is welcome to attend the meeting or just submit an article online.
NHS

Outing Club
Advisor: Ms. Gormley
Meeting time and location: Thursdays, 3:30 p.m., HS Room 117 (1 week before each event)
Experience the outdoors on one of our local hikes. No experience, no problem. All outings are a blast. Come check us out and find out where the trail will take us next.
SADD
Advisor: Mrs. Cerny
Meeting time and location: Wednesdays, 3:10-4 p.m., HS Room 202
Students Against Destructive Decisions is a group that encourages students to make positive choices and to encourage those around them to do the same. We do informational campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness about drinking and other drug use, texting while driving, and teen traffic safety issues. We have fun while doing this and meet on Tuesdays after school.
Senior Class Advisory Committee

Meeting time and location: First Tuesday of each month, 3:30 p.m., HS Room 201
Senior Class Club welcomes every senior to get involved and make senior year their best year ever. It is intended to help the senior class participate in fun activities throughout the year. The club also helps with the organization of end of the year activities such as; the senior cruise, senior week, choosing a graduation speaker and anything else that will help make the senior year spectacular!
Sophomore Class Club

The Sophomore Class Club is open to all sophomores. We will be asking sophomores to volunteer for different community and school activities. We also sponsor the Neon Dance in March.
SoroptiMISS
Advisor: Mrs. Strader and Mrs. Aleva
Meeting time and location: Thursdays, 7:45-8:20 a.m., HS Room 111 (additional meetings TBD as needed)
STEM
Advisor: Mr. Heames
Meeting time and location: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 p.m., HS Room 301
STEM club is open to all students who enjoy the design and building process. Through several small projects students can design, build, and compete against each other to see who will have the best design. The criteria for each project will be different (ex. Which has the fastest, or strongest, or highest energy output).
Student Council
Advisors: Mr. O’Connor and Ms. Venditto
Meeting time and location: Mondays, 7:45-8:15 a.m., HS Room 225
Student Council members help coordinate school-wide activities such as Homecoming, Spirit Week, Cabin Fever Week, and the school wide food drive. We also run a volunteer resource center called, “Red and Black Gives Back” where we promote and recognize volunteerism of the entire student body.
Trivia Team
Advisor: Mr. Hartenberg
Meeting time and location: Mondays, 3:05 p.m., HS Room 303
Players are tested on a wide variety of academic subjects. The game is played with a lockout buzzer system between two teams consisting of four players each. Players are read questions and try to score points for their team by buzzing first and responding with the correct answer. There are six biweekly meets, all falling on Wednesday nights, at Queensbury High School.
