About Kensington Road School

Mission

Kensington Road School is a K-4 neighborhood school with a growing and changing population. Our mission is to provide a safe, caring and educationally stimulating environment, which encourages lifelong learning for all children. We will accomplish our mission by striving to achieve these goals:

  • To meet the academic, social, emotional and physical development of children based on the assumption that all children can learn.
  • To acknowledge success and provide the support by which all students can experience achievement.
  • To encourage communication and involvement among children, staff, parents and community.
  • To instill pride, and foster self-reliance throughout the school community.

At KRS, we are committed to our students’ academic and personal growth. Utilizing a sequential, relevant, standards-based curricular program, we are confident our students will develop a strong foundation for their long-term success as they move forward in their educational career.

Good character is also stressed at KRS. Monthly themes emphasize the importance of good character and stress the value in learning to care for ourselves and others. At KRS we believe in “nothing less than our best!”

The staff at KRS is composed of dedicated, caring professionals who believe in placing the needs of our students first. Parent involvement, effective instructional practices, differentiated instruction, engaging learning strategies and positive interactions ensure all students a healthy learning experience on a daily basis.

About the School

Kensington Road Elementary School is one of three neighborhood elementary schools within the Glens Falls City School District. Each neighborhood K-4 building provides a safe, caring, and educationally stimulating environment which encourages lifelong learning. Our highly qualified faculty and staff members strive to meet the many needs of our children.

Our district-wide curriculum map mirrors the New York State Learning Standards. Remedial reading teachers, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, school psychologists and special education teachers provide added support, so all students can achieve.

The curriculum blueprint also incorporates instruction in music, physical education, computers and art. Chorus, band, and orchestra are offered in fourth grade. Third- and fourth-grade students also participate in our gifted and talented program, Project Stretch.

The district takes pride in its character education program which is integrated into daily activities. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged and helps ensure student success.
