Elementary Summer Art program wraps up with color and creativity

August 30, 2013 -- The 2013 summer elementary art program concluded in mid-August, with art teachers reporting it to be a huge success.

Nearly 150 kindergarten through fourth-grade students participated in the program, which took place over a five-week period in the Glens Falls Middle School art rooms.

“Students participated in all kinds of projects, including drawing, painting, crafts, photography, jewelry, and furniture painting,” said art teacher and summer program instructor Rick Butto. Fellow art teachers Debbie Sylvia, Robin Brewer, Peter Taylor, and Joy Muller-McCoola also led the students through their exploration and expression.

The district's summer elementary art program runs each year during the months of July and August. Enrollment is open to all children from all school districts. A schedule of events is made ready and sent to district parents in early spring. If you know a child who would like to participate next year, call any of the Glens Falls City elementary schools during the months of May or June for more complete information.
