District recognized for energy savings

October 21, 2013 -- Staff at Glens Falls City School District continue to achieve big savings with energy-efficient behavior — and those good habits are earning national recognition.

At the October 21 board of education meeting, Chuck Fasnacht of Cenergistic presented board president Anna Poulos with the Energy Excellence Award for achieving a 23 percent cost savings -- totaling $610,424 in 42 months -- since forming a strategic alliance with the national energy conservation company.

According to a data analysis by Cenergistic, GFSD’s cumulative energy savings is equivalent to taking 340 cars off the road, or growing 48,431 pine trees for 10 years.

The conservation program examines all areas of energy use throughout the district's buildings, including electricity, water, natural gas and fuel oil.
