Student-musicians perform in highest state ensemble

January 21, 2016 — Three talented Glens Falls High School vocalists, Clay Smith, Angie Nardin, and Lucy Reid earned places in the prestigious New York State School Music Association Conference All-State Mixed Chorus.

The student-musicians sang in a concert at the beautiful Eastman Theatre on December 6th before hundreds of music educators, music students, family, and friends. The concert followed three days of intense rehearsal in Rochester with guest conductor Sandra Snow from Michigan State University.

“Clay, Angie, and Lucy were chosen for this honor by receiving perfect scores on their level 6 All-State solo and sight-reading auditions last May,” says music teacher Pam Granger. “We are so proud to have them representing our music program at Glens Falls High School on a state level!”

Only nine hundred students out of thousands from high schools across New York State were selected to perform in the eight All-State ensembles.

NYSSMA, the New York State School Music Association, is the largest state affiliate of The National Association for Music Education. The mission of NYSSMA is to advocate and improve the education in music of all people by promoting appropriate music activities and programs in the schools and communities throughout New York State.
