Dear GF Nation Families,
As we finish preparing for the start of an exciting school year, I would like to extend my gratitude for the many warm welcomes I have received. I am so appreciative to be a part of such an amazing school and community. Our first day of school for students is Thursday, September 8. We look forward to having students back in our buildings and in our classrooms.
A few updates so you know what to expect:
- One breakfast and one lunch are free for each student.
- All back to school supplies have been purchased by the district for students already. If you need help with obtaining a backpack, please send a request or call the building principal.
- If your child tests positive for COVID-19 (test kits are available at no cost), they will isolate at home for 5 days. If your child is ill (no positive test) they will stay home as per guidelines in the student handbook. Any questions should be directed to the school nurse in your child’s building.
We have some new staff to welcome in each building. We are excited to have an excellent group of incoming teachers, support staff and administrators. Please see our website for some of these updates.
You may have heard of our new communication tool, Parent Square. We intend for this to be an uncomplicated system, and we have many people ready to help if you need us. Staff will be available at Open House events to offer in-person assistance as well. We will also be encouraging parents to complete free/reduced lunch applications (even though children will already be receiving free meals) because if our percentage of need is greater than it was previously, the district may receive a greater reimbursement in the future.
When you visit our schools, you will notice some changes in safety and security for our students and staff. You may notice signage to help direct you where to park and report to the main office.
I am looking forward to attending multiple events to see our GF Nation pride, participation in and love of the arts, sportsmanship, and athleticism. I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Dr. Krislynn Dengler, Superintendent
