About Glens Falls High School

Glens Falls is a small city school district serving a population of 15,000 persons. More than 65 industries are represented including medical, media, and pulp/paper products. The city is located in the Adirondack Foothills, north of Saratoga, on the banks of the Hudson River. Cultural offerings include the Charles R. Wood Theater, the Glens Falls Symphony, the Hyde Art Museum, the Chapman Historical Museum and the Cool Insuring Arena.

The city is located 10 minutes from Lake George (a summer resort area) and only 20 minutes from the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Saratoga Race Tracks. Glens Falls is also the home of a NY Collegiate Baseball League team, as well as an ECHL Hockey Team. An Alpine Ski Area, Cross Country Ski trails, the Warren County Bikeway and Feeder Canal Trail are also located in our community.

Location and Directions

The school may be reached by exiting at Exit 18 of the Adirondack Northway (I-87). Proceed east on Main Street, approximately one mile. Turn left onto LaRose Street, just past the Hannaford Plaza. Continue north on LaRose St. At stop sign make a right onto Sherman Avenue. At the next stop make a left onto Quade Street.

Report to the Main Office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass.

Cumulative Averages/Class Rank

GFHS uses a 0-100 numerical grading scale. Cumulative averages are calculated using all courses with the exception of Phys. Ed., and courses graded on a P/F basis. Cumulative averages are calculated by dividing the sum of final grades by the number of credits attempted. Students are ranked in numerical order based on cumulative averages. Two levels of courses exist at GFHS: Regents and Honors.
